Fixing PS5 Remote Play with Port Forwarding
PS5 Remote Play can sometimes struggle with unstable connections or repeated reconnect loops.
In my case, the issue was resolved by forwarding just two ports on the router.
The Two Key Ports
- TCP 9295 – Used for session control and establishing the Remote Play connection.
- UDP 8572 – Used for the actual Remote Play stream (audio, video, and input).
How to Apply the Fix
- Assign a static IP address to your PS5 through your router’s settings.
- Log into your router and add two port forwarding rules:
- Forward TCP port 9295 to your PS5’s IP address.
- Forward UDP port 8572 to your PS5’s IP address.
Results
After opening these two ports, Remote Play stopped dropping connections and became stable,
even on external networks. This minimal setup avoids having to forward large port ranges.
