Please do not flag as outdated: this is the latest free version. When you start Master PDF Editor it will say that there is a newer version but it is a 5.x version, and since 5.x had been introduced a watermark. If you want the latest non-free version please refer to: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/masterpdfeditor

Instead of modifying /etc/hosts, what about using a launcher script that uses bubblewrap to block access to the internet and other resources?

Beware this version does add watermarks when some tools are used. For example, if you want to add a background colour, you will need to mark the option "The unregistered version will add a watermark" and then a watermark will be added together with the background colour.

Can someone tell me what's needed to get the OCR working? I copied the whole content of https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tessdata to ~/.masterpdfeditor/tessdata/. The OCR goes through the whole document really fast, but it never finds anything.

It's not possible to Add Text (CTRL + T). It closes the program. I'm using LibreOffice Draw to circumvent this drawback.

(edit) After using for a while, it was probably an one time thing. It's back to normal after a reboot and text is working.

@KarlFiabeschi it prevents to look for updates at startup. This is the latest version without watermark but it's still an old version, so without that /etc/hosts rule you will be notified about a new version each time you start the program.
